Completed one of my new years resolutions this year: take a photo of a stranger. I've been wanting to do it for so long and finally mustered up the courage to approach Earve in front of his townhouse in DuPont today. It's not as bad as I'd imagined and people are definitely nicer than you'd think. Explored DuPont area, Georgetown Waterfront, and JFK Center today and the weather was so nice. DuPont is really good for random street photos because there's so much architecture and small things there! And the JFK Center rooftop was beautiful! We saw the entire D.C. and it just felt so nice being high up and seeing everything from the monuments to planes taking off at Reagan Airport. Definitely a new favorite spot in D.C.

Felt very ambitious today and went for a run after work. A run much longer than any other runs I've done. Started at Ballston and ran towards Georgetown Waterfront and then turned towards the JFK Center to see the rooftop again. And then from there the shortest distance home was 4 miles D: In total, I ran for 6.9 miles, but the entire route including walking was 8.8 miles. It feels good, but I'm already starting to feel the pain coming tomorrow.

Happy Friday! Went to work and got my caricature photo! I don't think it looks very much like me, but it's still cool to have! And then the toys for our team room came in, including LEGOs, Connect Four, Uno, etc... It's like Christmas! For most of the day, I worked on non-analytical stuff but I thought it was still a pretty productive day. The weather was really warm today but a little too humid for my liking, but at least it's warm. After dinner, I went to Gravelly Point Park to get some night shots of the planes taking off and landing at Reagan Airport. The planes were soo close and it's such a good picture spot, and just to relax. I'm definitely gonna go back there one evening and just lie on the grass watching the planes.

Super busy day today but it was a really great day. Went to the second day of Kollab auditions and the artists today were all generally really good. Some of the bands had a lot of set up and really put on a good audition piece. I was asked to take photos and videos of the auditions and had a lot of fun doing that, definitely something I want to be more involved in in Kollab. Afterwards, had a fun time with the group as usual and didn't leave UMCP until 6pm. Then at night, I stopped by the Southwest Waterfront Festival for the fireworks before heading to Sravanthi's housewarming. Lots of Princeton people so had to meet a lot of new people, but they were all really cool and fun to talk to! Busy days always seem to be the fun days.

First time dragonboating in 2 years and it felt good but tiring. I forgot how much of a lower back work out it is, but it felt nice to be on the water again. I came home after practice and knocked out haha. And then in the afternoon the weather was beautiful so I went in to D.C. to get some nice photos. I found a small garden with a lot of cherry blossoms and got a bunch of photos. There weren't any by the Tidal Basin. I also realized that the WWII memorial is really nice and has a fountain in the middle! Never saw that in the winter so I always thought that memorial was kinda lame.

Slow Monday today at work. It was such an eventful weekend I didn't feel all that rested for the start of the week. The weather's getting nicer and nicer now and it's so great leaving work while it's like 70s outside. But it also makes me not want to even work.. Womp.

I'm starting to like this 6am workout routine. It makes me feel very productive from the moment I wake up and sets me off on the right foot. I think I'll slowly ease into this by doing morning workouts 1-2 times a week, and then see if I want to continue.. It will free up a lot of time at night to go explore or do other things I want, but not sure how long I can sustain waking up at 6am... Anyway, work was busy today but was productive! On the drive back, I started listening to Serial podcast and it's actually very interesting! The way it's told makes me want to listen more and made the drive so much less tiring. I'm looking forward to next week's Richmond trip so I can listen to the next episode.

I think I need to wake up at the same time every morning or it throws off my routine. Woke up at 6am yesterday fine, but 7:30 today was such a struggle. Work was the usual - was proud of my work on this white board today. After work I stopped by the library because when I jogged by it last night I saw these really pretty white flowers. They were all over the place so I spent a good 15 minutes just taking pictures. Oh, and got a few books from the library as well.. I watched Hitch tonight and really liked it! It's so sappy as usual but a lot of what's in the movie are actually pretty true..

Very American car on the drive back. Today I looked a lot more into the Nikon D610, the full frame camera, and now I really want it. Especially in time for the New Orleans and Texas trip in less than a month. But it's so damn expensive! I think eventually I'll switch to a full frame, so why not now? (That's to make me feel less guilty about getting it). I checked it out at a Best Buy after work and did a bunch of research online about it, but can't find anything cheaper than like $1300 D: We'll see...

Fridays always a super chill day. Spent a good hour building LEGOs and ended up with a pretty cool LEGO phone holder, and it has wheels too! After work, went to Tyson's to watch Furious 7 and it was really good, more sentimental than the other ones I think. The tribute to Paul Walker at the very end was so sad but it was a good way to remember him. I came back home and was feeling a little lazy about going to James' party, but decided to be social and had a good time there! We took a Cornell photo with like 15 people - I was surprise that many Cornell people were there! But it was a fun time and catching up with some people I don't normally see.

I need a rest day. Woke up at 7 to beat the crowd to go see the cherry blossoms. That's earlier than waking up for work! The cherry blossoms were really pretty and they were everywhere! I walked around the Tidal Basin once and took photos along the way. Funny story. This lady starts filming me and asks me a few questions, like interview-style. Out of no where. Afterwards I found out she makes YouTube videos for a TV show, and got her YouTube channel to look out for the video. She showed me a few clips of me and it's pretty intense. It's like looking through someone else's stalking lens of yourself... Cool but a little creepy, but she was nice haha. Then I checked out the parade for a little bit before meeting up with Margaret. We walked around the Tidal Basin again, by then I was so exhausted. In the evening I went to Kollab deliberations to decide who passes the auditions. It was a long process with lots of debates but we finally decided on the 6 performers after...  hours. Time for bed.

Dragonboat today was much nicer because the weather was actually warmer than last week. Still slowly easing into practices, but another practice done and getting less and less rusty. Came to Richmond in the afternoon to meet up with Kevin for dinner since he's interviewing here tomorrow. Nice to meet him officially and catch up over a bunch of stuff. Spent a good amount of time getting food and then desserts, and I ended up with a free McDonald's toy when I asked the cashier what toy they had and how much it was. LOL. It wasn't even a cool toy..

It was a struggle to get up, not a good start to a Monday. I was really productive at work today - did a bunch of research on the Nikon D610, and of course actual work, and had productive meetings. There's a conference in Miami in 2 weeks I'm trying to go to haha. And also got a vanilla bean creme brulee from the bakery and it was delicious! After work I wandered around for a bit and then had a Kollab meeting for an hour. Then picked up pizza from Tazza Kitchen and it's so good. The place also has really nice decor, I wanna go back and sit outside on the patio.

Work. The usual. Got Hibachi for dinner with Min and Margaret (M^2) and had a bunch of random stupid moments. Went to Sonic afterwards to get a milkshake and they didn't come out in rollerskates I was very disappointed. Stopped by best buy after to check out the D610 again and just look around, and damn that camera is huge.

One last time to double, triple, quadruple check the D610 one last time before buying it. Finally ordered it tonight and hopefully it'll come by mid next week so excited!! I spent the entire night making a 1-minute video of the cherry blossoms. I think I'm putting my laptop through a lot of stress making these videos because it's not meant to be processing videos.. Oh wells.

Got my Chase Sapphire Preferred today! The metal card is so nice, Capital One needs to start doing this. Today at work I kept checking Adorama for my order status. It went from being 'Ready' to 'Processed' to 'Packed' to finally 'Shipped'!! Which means I'll have it by next Monday and I can bring it with me to Miami and NOLA and all the fun places! :D

Finally it's Friday! Work was busy today but had breaks and met up with Alex Chang since he's down here for training. We got Korean BBQ after work and it was delicious. 2 people is a good group to go in - you get a fair share but don't feel stuffed. After much debate over what movie to watch, we decided to watch Focus over The Longest Ride. It was a good movie, but nothing spectacular in my opinion just entertaining. Then spend a good portion of the night planning New Orleans and Texas. 2 until Texas!!!

04182015
Global Citizens Earth Day Concert on the National Mall today! Alex and I went there, super unprepared - no water, no food, no blankets, no sunblock. We were pretty much just baking in the sun for hours before taking a break at McDonald's for food and drinks. Fall Out Boy performed, but I'm not a big fan of them anyway. But Train and Usher were both really good performers and their songs sounded really good live. But No Doubt was sooo good! The entire band was so goofy and it was so entertaining to watch. And Gwen Stefani looked really badass too and she did put on a good show. She's in pretty good shape for her age.. And now I'm sunburned and exhausted from being in the sun for practically the entire day.

Dragonboat practice today was painful. Jumped right into a 10-minute drill and my poor lower back was in so much pain the entire time. But it's good to have a real practice in and the sore feelings after a good practice feels good. In the afternoon I went to Gravelly Point again to take some photos and just to get some fresh air. Met up with a bunch of people for dinner at Peter Chang's, but since it was packed we got take out and ate it at someone's apartment instead. Pretty productive weekend overall, exhausting but felt pretty good about how everything turned out this weekend. Had fun at the concert, got my exercise in, and made amends with some people. Can't complain :)

New camera came today!! The D610 is so much bulkier and heavier, but the photos come out so much nicer. I monitored the UPS page the whole day until I saw that it got delivered. There's so much other stuff that came with the bundle, but I'm thinking of selling most of it since I won't use them anyway. I came to Richmond and took it for a test run around the mall. It works really well in low light and there's just so much more settings you can tinker with.

Starting to like this morning workout routine. Considering shifting my sleep schedule earlier by an hour just so I can go to the gym in the morning without falling asleep at work. Today I wore a super bright polo to work and I was so self conscious. So many people commented on the color and when I went to get lunch I felt like eeeeeeveryone saw me. Never again D: Oh and got Uber/Capital One sunglasses from the Uber deal that went public today. After work I went for a jog around Short Pump and this tiny dog chased me around for a while haha.

04222015
Impulse McDonald's purchase since the gas stations was right next to it D: Work was really busy today, such bad timing because I'm gonna be traveling in and out of the office for the next two or so weeks. Came home and spent a good amount of time cleaning and organizing and packing for NYC tomorrow and Miami next week! So excited!!

Nothing new today. Work and then a loooong commute back to NYC. The people on the NY subway are so different from those on the DC Metro.

Work from home today but woke up super early to Evelyn busting in my room and jumping on me. Played with her and Chloe a bit before they went to school. In the evening, I went to open a Chase checking account to get the bonus and had a pretty fun conversation with the banker. She asked what I do at Capital One and it's funny how I'm at another bank applying to Chase. But I like her and it was a good conversation. :) Then for the rest of the night it was just playing with the babies and watching TV. Oh, and I planned my activities for Miami!! :D

Babysitting for the entire morning and early afternoon is soooo exhausting. But anyway, ran a few errands in the afternoon before heading out to the city for Amy's birthday celebration. First stopped by Bryan's to pre game a little and I realized how low my tolerance is D: And then we went to M1-5 Lounge in Tribeca and met up with Amy and all her friends. I knew a few of them and good seeing them again. Mui also stumbled in later already super drunk haha. Drinking is too exhausting, I'd rather sleep in than go out.

Woke up to go dragonboat with Wall Street! Nice to be back on the boat again and back in the dirty NY water. Spent most of the day bumming around at home, but I did go to Brooklyn with Rafey to get some photos by Williamsburg. Quick catch up but that's what we always do.

I took the 6am flight from LGA to MIA for the Net Finance conference. The Trump National Doral Hotel is a villa-styled resort and focuses heavily on golfing. It’s soo nice – the rooms are so fancy and the service is what you’d get at an all-inclusive resort. The conference itself was pretty interesting and I got to talk to a few vendors as well. When the conference ended at 5pm, I took an Uber to Little Havana and got a Calle Ocho (Cuban sandwich) from Versailles Restaurant – the supposedly most authentic Cuban sandwich. It was just alright to me, but maybe because it was 95 degrees and humid and I wasn’t in the mood to eat. I walked about 25 minutes from there to the heart of Little Havana, which spans only about one block and didn’t really have much. I got Azucar’s ice cream and got Guava and Conche de Leche flavors – pretty delicious and refreshing! Then off to Miami Beach!! I walked around the beach before it got dark and dipped my toes in the water – it’s so warm! Then spent an hour plus walking up and down the Lincoln Road Mall and Espanola Way. As I was going to head back to the hotel, I turned onto Ocean Drive and discovered where all the parties are happening. Bars popping everywhere and party goers filled the streets. It was nice people watching and just taking a bunch of photos with my camera. Finally at 10 I called it a night because my feet were exhausted from walking in flip flops.

Another exhausting day that started with a 6am workout before the conference. I didn't attend as many speaker sessions today as I had some work to do, and also talked to a few vendors and got free swag. After a while, every speak kind of blend together and there's little value in listening. After the conference, I Ubered to Wynwood Walls - the art and hipster district of Miami. Graffiti all over the walls, art exhibits, and all that hipster stuff. Didn't stay long before going to South Pointe Park in South Beach. From there, I walked North along the beach and it was so nice dipping my feet in the water. It was muggy out and cloudy, with occasional drips of rain, but nice being on the beach nevertheless. Walked around Ocean Drive to see what it's like during the day time and then got tacos for dinner. Then I went to Bayside in Downtown Miami to check out the outdoor mall there and see the view of the waterfront. It was really pretty indeed and there was live music playing. Concluded my night with a Corona with lime at Bayside before heading back to the Trump.

The conference ended pretty early, or shall I say, I left pretty early. Today was such a crappy day because it was thunderstorming all day. Ruined my plans of napping by the pool. So instead, I went to the Vizcaya Mansion, home of some famous guy in the earlier 1900's. It was cool reading about some of the history and just walking around the mansion and garden. After that, I went to Cocowalk in Coconut Grove. I thought it was some really fancy outdoor mall worth checking out, but it was so small and very disappointing. Then walked like 2 miles to The Village of Merrick Park, another outdoor mall, and yet another disappointment. All this was in the rain and I decided to call it a day and headed back to the hotel. Then a few hours later caught the flight back to DC.

It's like I came back from vacation. Kinda hard getting back in working mode, but had to catch up on a bunch of stuff, and get ready again to be out of the office for another week. Also, had such a hard time staying awake today D: Came home after work to unpack, do laundry, and pack for Texas!!
