Got lunch with Tony and Margaret at Eden Center and got delicious Pho. Good hanging out with them outside of work, and talked about a bunch of random stuff. Had a mini debating on what girls do vs. guys do after a breakup. I have my own opinions, but I'll save it for another time.. Then we went food shopping in Good Fortune lol, we were so bored. Then I spent a few hours at Barnes & Noble reading this book. My brother told me about it and it's actually a good and easy read. About why people form habits, how to change bad habits, and how to create new habits. About a third done and will continue once I check it out at the library.

Doesn't feel like Monday for some reason. I have a pretty packed week in DC, Richmond, and then the snowboarding trip on Friday! Having something to look forward to makes the week go by faster. At work, we're asked to learn something outside of what we do for our job. So gotta start thinking of what I want to learn - can be programming languages, certifications, take classes, etc... I think a class like consumer behavior/psychology would be pretty cool to take. Anyway, after work I was feeling ambitious and stopped by the grocery store to get salmon to cook for dinner. It's actually really easy and turned out pretty good! Shall do this more often as part of my plan to lead a healthier lifestyle!

Pretty successful day today and made lots of progress on my project. It's so exciting when things gain momentum and you're one step closer finishing. Left work super early at 3:30 cause everyone left, but then I caught up on some work tonight at the hotel. Had to stay at the Westin because the Hilton was all booked, but the Westin food is soo much better.

Busy day in Richmond today with all the planning sessions and the random meetings I had here and there. Talked with Ryan for an hour about Cornell recruiting, where we are now and where we want to be in the future. And also talked about the upcoming dinner at Ithaca which I'm probably going to wheee! I decided to come back to DC tonight to avoid being trapped in Richmond when the snow comes in tomorrow. I stopped by the same Thai place as usual and the lady is so jolly! She's like she might have to close work because of the snow tomorrow, and then she'll miss her customers and her dog at home will follow her everywhere thinking she has food. Makes me want to be a regular customer at the Thai place haha. The drive home was soooo foggy today.

Snow day today so worked from home, but first had to pick up a laptop charger from Michael's because I forgot mine. So spent my morning venturing out in the snow. The snow came down fast and put a pretty thick layer on the group. In the afternoon I went out to explore a bit and one thing I don't get about DC is how come they don't invest in actual plows, but instead use bulldozers to clear the streets. Doesn't make sense.. Finished the Power of Habit at night and it's a good read, very thought provoking.

Another day working from home because the office was closed till 10 AM. In the morning I worked out of Buzz Bakery down the street - should go there more often it's a pretty cozy place. The rest of the afternoon I was actually really productive working at home. Then got a few more books from the library to read! At night, Tony, Peter, Min, Margaret and I pregamed at Min's with the intention of going out to DC. We drank soo much beer playing power hour, and shotgunned for the first time in forever. Some of us made it out to Tombs in Georgetown and others didn't.. haha And then Peter goes and orders the eeeeeentire bar menu and we got like 8 plates of bar food, way too much. And then Bryant came in at like midnight.

Super early morning to get the free tickets to visit the top of the Washington Monument. Drinking a lot the night before and waking up super early don't go well together.. Bryant and I did so many things - saw all the monuments, White House, Library of Congress and all the touristy things. The White House was put on lockdown when we were there and the Secret Service evacuated everyone by the fence. And this dude was just walking around with a big gun, nbd. Turns out it was a false alarm cause of a food truck catching on fire. Got lunch at Founding Farmers and it was delicious as usual. Then took a much needed break/nap at home before heading out to see a few more of the monuments we missed, and then finally decided to watch The Kingsman at Tyson's. The movie was really good, a lot better than I expected.

Went to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier this morning and saw a wreath laying ceremony as well. Always pretty neat to see these kind of things. Today was also super nice outside in the high-50's, so in the afternoon I went for a run. Spring is on its way!! At night, a bunch of us went to Neal's place to make our own pizza using his pizza oven. They actually came out pretty good and it was delicious. Another tiring weekend gone, now the week D:

The struggle was so real this entire day. Daylight saving threw me off so much; I didn't think it'd be this bad it's never been this bad. Felt slightly sick and horrible waking up and on top of that I was sooo tired and exhausted all day. On the bright side, it was in the 60's today!! Sooooo nice outside and smelled like spring, it better not snow again and drop down to the 20's. Since I'm in DC all week, I stocked up on groceries and can actually cook this week. The oven is my new best friend, makes everything so easy and delicious.

One day of super nice weather and now we're back to the rainy and gloomy days. But together was much better than yesterday - i.e. less struggle. The office was so empty though, but I was still productive. The day seemed to drag on forever and it was only noon when I thought it was already 3. Sigh.. it's gonna be a long week, not even hump day yet. Made roasted chicken for dinner, so much more of a hassle than salmon. I'm just gonna stick to salmon from now one. And then started planning for New Orleans!! Excited to go somewhere new and explore. T-2 months!!

Hump day. Finally. The morning was alright, but the afternoon was a major struggle just to stay awake. I kept pacing around the floor just to stay awake and the second I sit back down I start dozing again. Came home and just knocked out for a good hour. It felt so nice napping in bed when it was still so sunny outside - perfect lazy napping weather.

Very slow day at work today - made some Excel sheets more efficient since I had free time. Not really sure what I did for most of the afternoon, but hung out in the atrium for quite a while. For once I wasn't feeling dead and exhausted today, maybe because I had a big cup of coffee this morning. After dinner, I went out for a stroll and tried taking night shots on this really dark street. Kinda hard without my tripod so I borrowed someone's front yard ledge.

Work from home day today. Had a nice morning at Buzz Bakery and starting to become a regular there. Had a productive morning, and during innovation hours in the afternoon I started a few lessons on Codecademy, hopefully I'll learn some web programming skills after I complete the series. Coming back to the apartment I saw a bunch of food trucks outside, so I decided to try Astro Doughnuts and Fried Chicken since the line was so long. The chicken sandwich was good, but not that spectacular.. Around dinner time Margaret asked to get dinner so why not, and we got so much food at Lighthouse Tofu. Met up with Sang after to get some dranks, and then karaoke for 2 hours before calling it a night. Spontaneous nights are the best.

Woke up with a headache and throat not feeling well, ugh. It was a tough morning, but managed to get out of the apartment to read The Happiness Project at Boccato. Found a nice couch and camped there for 2 hours or so. There was these two people in front of me talking about managing their life and it was a pretty interesting conversation to eavesdrop on :P The waiter apparently tried to photobomb when I took this photo, but I was too zoomed in and didn't get her in the frame, oh wells.

Really sunny day today but also pretty windy. I woke up at 9:30 with no alarms and decided to stop snoozing to get out of bed. Feels good to wake up early on weekends and be productive in the morning - read some news, read my book, made breakfast. Then had the Kollab DC meeting in Tyson's for 2 hours, but it seems to be getting more exciting with auditions as early as next weekend! Afterwards, a few of us got a late lunch at Shake Shack in Tyson's - I haven't had it in so long. We just chilled in the mall for quite some time. Then I finally washed my car to get all the nasty snow/salt/rain off; I hope it doesn't snow again any time soon...

The weather was so nice today! In the high 60s!! But it was a slow Monday at work, so I left early since my manager left at 2:30. So nice leaving work and coming home when it's still so sunny outside. Made my way down to Richmond early to get the steak that I've been craving for so long, it was so good. Then just watched TV for the rest of the night.

Today's weather was so nice!! I left work so happy and in such a good mood because it was so sunny and warm outside. Makes me so excited for summer. Had dinner at European Taste and the owners were very friendly as usual. I think they like Capital One people going because we leave a pretty hefty tip haha. But that's fine because they're so friendly and the food is pretty cheap. Then I decided to take a walk around the Short Pump mall to walk off my food, and ended up getting a pair of pants haha.

Feeding my FR-S. Today was a typical day, just chugging along doing a lot of Excel work, nothing too spectacular about my day. But the drive back up to DC is sooooo much nicer now with day light saving. I can actually drive in day light and get home when it's still light outside. With the weather getting nicer and summer approaching, I think I'm gonna look to join DC Dragons and get back into dragonboat. I miss the feeling after a hard practice and the adrenaline rush from races.

Had a big conference with everyone under my VP today and we had two interesting guest speakers. First is General McChrystal who led JSOC in Afghanistan and he talked about effective leadership. Then we had a design guy who came from Google talking about design processes and creative innovative products. Both were really interesting and I was much more engaged than I expected. Then the afternoon was just a bunch of conversations about March Madness and how so many people's brackets are getting ruined haha. Was in a pretty good mood after work talking to several people and then took my post-dinner stroll to Harris Teeter for some fruits.

Why is it snowing on the first day of spring? I put away all my winter clothes and jacket. Had free lunch at work today because one of the meetings got canceled last minute and we already ordered catering, so free food for grabs wooh! I left work at like 3:30 because everyone else left haha, best part about Fridays. In the evening I went back to Tyson's Corner for a hide and seek at the mall, but it never happened and a few of us just ended up getting Shake Shack and then went to Colton's super nice apartment to watch the basketball games.

Had an eventful day today doing Kollab auditions at UMCP. It felt nice being back on a college campus again even though it was completely foreign to me. The auditions were fun and it was cool listening to the people sing/play instruments and hear about their backstory. Hung out with the KDC staff too and they're really fun! We walked to the other side of campus to get food during lunch, and then hung out at Ten Ren's afterward to just chat and joke around. I came home and was exhausted and passed out for like half an hour haha.

Awesome day at the Newseum today filming strangers for our design thinking project. It was pretty awkward asking them if we could film them at first, and got turned down by two people, but eventually it wasn't all that bad! It was fun talking to them and asking them questions about their experience and what they like about the museum. This old couple was so adorable and was very genuine and so friendly! Afterwards, we walked around the White House, and got to see a motorcade leave the front entrance of the White House. Everyone was evacuated to the other side of the street and there were so many cars, swat teams, police cars, etc.. all around the motorcade. Apparently the president is always in the second car on the back right corner... according to this tour guide. But I didn't see Obama..

Slow and long Monday, but time passed by a little quicker with all the side conversation we had in the room today. Everyone was just very talkative, well... it was only like four of us, but we still made good talk! Had a pleasant drive down to Richmond since it was still sunny for half the drive and it's just so much easier driving when it's not cold outside. There's something about winter draining all your energy, and when the weather warms up you just naturally have more energy during the day.

Super long day today. Work was a series of checks on previous changes we've made, and just making sure everything is correct. Margaret and I explored WC1, the newly remodeled building, and it looked so fun! Hammocks in the building, walls you can write on, and everything was so modern looking. For dinner, the Design Thinking group went to Savory Grain near downtown Richmond and the place had a really nice feel to it. Live music and the environment felt very inviting. The steak was not bad, and it was great I didn't feel bloated after dinner. Then we went back to the office to work out the details of the Design Thinking video, and after an hour or so we were all exhausted and ready to leave. But tomorrow I'm waking up at 6am to jog around West Creek and go to the gym. Can't bail on Margaret D:

6am gym and jogging! Because the Hyatt beds weren't that comfortable, waking up wasn't that big of a problem. Richmond was colder and less sunny that we thought, so it was a pretty nippy morning jog around the West Creek campus. Energetic start to my day and at some point I felt like I was crashing, but managed to get through the entire day no problem! For dinner, we went to Black Sheep in downtown Richmond - the food was just alright in my opinion. I got lamp chops and they weren't very hot, and the sauce wasn't quite my type. Afterwards, we went to Rock Bottom for drinks and talked/gossiped a lot about all types of things. Impromptu plans and conversations are the best conversations.

Day 2 of 6am workouts. Almost didn't make it out of bed, and today was definitely a lot harder than yesterday. Instead of running because we were feeling lazy, we just worked out at the gym and called it a day. The entire morning was such a struggle to stay awake and I was just so exhausted physically and mentally. But I left work pretty early to get back to DC in time for a sell dinner at The Palms. The weather was absolutely beautiful when I left - clear skies, sunny, 76 degrees! The breeze was so warm and it felt so nice driving with the windows rolled down. Dinner at The Palms was alright. I got salmon, the third type of meat I've had this week... I'm just feasting every day of the week this week.

Very chill day at work today. Had a few meetings here and there, but the main thing I did all day was going out to Chef Geoff's for lunch for the Analyst Welcome Weekend. The crabcake was delicious! I left work at like 3 in order to hit the gym before going out to the Wizards game at 7pm. We got a box seat with food and drinks so it was a pretty sweet deal. The game itself was alright until the last 3 minutes when it got really close and heated up, and ended up going to double overtime. The overtimes were pretty exciting to watch, and the Wizards won at the end! First time in the Verizon Center and it was fun! Afterwards we went to the W Hotel and got bottle service with champagne, cocktails and vodka. Had a few drinks but came back home around 1:30 so I can wake up for dragonboat tomorrow morning!

Woke up to go to the Anacostia Boathouse to help DC Dragons but the boats in the water. Met quite a few of the team members there and they all seem pretty cool, some even know people on WSD! This morning was freezing and I definitely didn't dress warm enough. But putting the boats in the water made me really want to get back into dragonboat, and especially racing down the Potomac River in May! Afterwards, I met up with Lauren, her mom, and David around the White House. I passed by the Kite Festival but didn't stay long because it was so windy and cold. We walked around the touristy places, and then went to Georgetown for lunch and Baked & Wired. The line was so long, but the cupcakes were really good actually. But I still wouldn't wait for it again.. Got dinner at Founding Farmers and it was delicious as usual. So much food today but I guess walking 10 miles offsets that?

88/365
03292015
Went for a 4-mile jog on the National Mall this afternoon. Jogging in DC is much more interesting because I also get to explore places where I usually wouldn't go to. I found a small pong between the Lincoln and the Washington Memorial today and it has a really pretty view of the Washington Monument. And the Jefferson was also really pretty today since it was clear skies and sunny, but too bad there's not cherry blossoms yet.

Pretty happy Monday! Lots of really quirky and random conversations in the team room this morning. Since when did we become so liberal and start using mild profanities?? But anyway, spent a good portion of the day figuring out NOLA flights and AirBnb stuff, and still haven't sort everything out yet, but hopefully by tomorrow evening we will! On the drive down to Richmond so many people do below speed limits in the inner lane. So frustrating.

Woke up at 6:30 to go to the gym at the Hilton. Felt pretty good and then treated myself to some Chick Fil-A breakfast. Their breakfast is not all that great, the tatertots were delicious though! The cashier addressed me by my name and I was so confused at first. And I guess it showed, and she clarified that she saw my Capital One ID with my name on it... Richmond weather was so nice today, and then on the way back it started raining here and there. Why can't the weather warm up already and not dip down to the 30s every night D:
